Childhood trauma - Image #1

I came across this photo while searching for "scared" images.

It reminded me of my own personal Department Store Santa traumas (there were more than one). I feel the pain of the youngest in the green coat. "Mommmmmm! Get me outta here!"

More on that later - I've got a pile of work today. For now, I'll just share:

I remeber as a child I was terrified of escalators. So once when I was 5 my mom took me to a department store and we had to use hen an escalator. I threw such a big tantrum she went on up without me and left me at the bottom of the escalator crying my eyes out. I made such a big fuss that the security gaurds had to come and shut off the escalators so that I could rejoin my mother who at this point was embarressed beyond belief. I sure taught her a lesson LOL!

Seeing this picture reminded me of the movie "A Christmas Story" when the kids are screaming on Santas lap and then they get shoved down the long slide.

I remember a pic we have of me and my sister. I was smiling and she was screaming her head off!!

Thanks for the memories!!

My first Santa childhood trauma occurred when we were living overseas, in Hong Kong. I was about 4. My mom had heard that they had a Santa at the Chinese department store, Daimaru. So she trekked us all down to see him. We were very excited!

When we got there, true to form, the American to Chinese cultural translation wasn't exactly quite right. They had this young skinny Chinese guy in a Santa costume that was falling off of him. He wasn't cheerful either. He looked really scary. We all started screaming our heads off.

Oh, I totally share the clown phobia. After all, wasn't that serial killer John Gacy also a clown?

I'll have to post about that in the future, thanks for the idea!
